Automate Your Shipment Process With Custom Scanning for Acumatica Shipment Screen

We often run into bottlenecks and inefficiencies using an ERP software and would love to automate such business process, scanning serial numbers across various screens allows to sell products & ship faster.

Problem Definition: Customer would like to ship more orders, often they are faced with shipping department not being efficient and unable to ship products faster.
The Shipment screen allows to allocate products picker is picking and has to manually allocate these serialized inventory to shipment before confirming and making sure they are shipping the right product and keeping track of serialized inventory.

Solution: It would be great to allow scanning of serialized inventory quickly with bar-code scanner or keying the serial number on shipment screen, allowing to allocate the serial numbers across multiple location.

Custom Solution: We utilized Acumatica framework SDK and customized Shipment Screen ID SO302000 and added a new button called "UPLOAD LOT/SERIAL" upon clicking this button the shipper gets to see a new modal window ready to accept scanned serial numbers.
Scan/Key-In the Serial Number
Now the shipper can scan serial item code from the bar-code reader and configure such a way to add the product to allocation screen and continue scanning other 100's of serialized products.

The plugin validates if an existing serial number matches the Inventory item on the shipment, if it doesn't match it will ignore and continue to allocate matching serial numbers to item codes.

If you scan more than the requested quantity it will continue to add but not allocate.

Auto Allocate - Once scanning is done the shipper can click Process, where all the magic happens it allocates the scanned serial in FIFO matching to respective item codes/inventory id's and ignoring the ones scanned wrongly or not matching and provides with a summary screen of all attached vs un-attached serial numbers.

Scanned Serial &Allocated
It helps the shipper to identify the wrong product being scanned, reduces errors and omissions, saves shipping cost, improves customer satisfaction and overall an efficient shipping system and a happy customer.

We have extended this scanning and allocation functionality to Sales Order screen, Inventory Receipt and Purchase Receipt screens too.

Acumatica Snapshots - Uploading and restoring large files

In Acumatica ERP, you can create company snapshots containing your company’s full or partial data. Snapshots that can be saved locally in the same database, or at a specified location. You can import and restore snapshot to another company, in this case test company, it's pretty handy tool very useful during implementations, customization and support/troubleshooting while you work with data. You will occasionally run into few technical issues with snapshots, the newer version now needs you to keep all users logged out and in maintenance mode to take snapshot, link to blog article here. Today we are going to discuss how to export and import snapshots which are larger in file size of above 1GB, this is not a limitation from Acumatica and more to do with constraint and default value set in IIS (Internet Information Server). IIS by default allows uploading of a file size of 1GB and it limits the upload process and it can be tweaked to upload upto 4 GB file size and that's

Acumatica User Defined Fields/Values - UDF using attributes in 2018 R2

In 2018 R2 version Acumatica introduced new feature called "User Defined fields" in short UDF's. These fields allow users to configure existing document screens to capture custom data per document basis. New features like this really helps partner/customer to configure business workflow process, this capability built on a framework can now enhance existing documents like Sales order, purchase order or other document to collect custom data at transaction level using attributes. For more information on which documents/screens you can collect UDF's refer to Acumatica help  In this example I have created few custom data that we would like to accept in our Print industry, this works pretty well with our Acumatica plugin PrintShop for Screen printing and embroidery companies, as business do accept different type of data and allows us to do minimal customizations. If your accepting custom data related to art work, then you can create those attributes ahead of
